Fast Meal Prep

So far, you’ve:

  • picked a planning method and chosen a time for planning,
  • downloaded and reviewed the Weekly Meal Plan handouts,
  • made a Master List of family-favorites
  • taken inventory of your food,
  • created a really simple family calendar,
  • made an actual dinner meal plan,
  • streamlined grocery lists and shopping, and
  • started to compile your Family Favorites recipes book

Let’s keep going, shall we… ?

Before taking this next step—follow the above to create this week’s plan, then actually go shopping for what you need.

Back so soon 🙂

Today’s challenge: Schedule a 20-minute prep session

Set a timer for 20 minutes. Sure, you could keep prepping once the timer goes off. Don’t do it. Show yourself just how much you can accomplish in 20 minutes (and how much this will help you the rest of the week). AND… if your target was 20 minutes and you do it, reward yourself with a good book or something else you’d like to do.

  1. Look 2-3 days ahead and grab:
  2. Any frozen meat you’ll need so it can thaw in the fridge.
  3. Any dried beans? Let’s get them soaking now.
  4. Batch prep. Review your written recipes. Grab a veggie you can clean and prep (consider pulling out your food processor). If three meals each call for 1 cup of chopped onions, save time by chopping them all at once. Put them in an airtight container and store until meal day. Or… trim and wash all lettuces, peel and slice other vegetables, etc.

I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how much one 20-minute prep session will de-frazzle your daily meal prep. I can’t wait to hear how it works!
